When Andy and I started talking about having another baby, we knew we’d need to find the world’s most flexible nanny. We needed someone who could care for Kelly while Andy was at work and I was sick, but since pregnancy isn’t something predictable, we couldn’t promise a certain start or end date. Add that to the already complex process of finding someone you feel is a safe bet for caring for your precious child, and $%#* be complicated.
We were insanely lucky to easily find someone via a classmate at Kelly’s co-op preschool. They had a lifelong family friend with a little girl who was looking to do some nanny work. I immediately jumped at the chance and it was clear that she would be a great fit for Kelly. Her little girl is a year younger then Kelly and they quickly became best friends (plus Kelly got to practice being a big sister!). She started watching Kelly in August when we moved, so I could have time to unpack, and then afterwards watched Kelly twice a week. She was so patient through fall and winter as I had surgery and waited to see if Baby #2 was going to happen. When we did find out I was pregnant, she had very little notice before going from two afternoons a week to full time, 7:30 am-6:30 pm!
While it was super hard to abruptly stop parenting Kelly, I knew she was in good hands. I received lots of sweet pictures keeping me in the loop!

Our nanny is always trying to coax Kelly into wearing her hair up, something we’ve yet to have luck with. It took awhile, but she had success!
Kelly was obsessed with Anna’s leopard print coat and would apparently insist Anna wear it whenever they left the house, so I tracked down one for Kelly and she nearly exploded with happiness. She looks like a mafia member in this picture!
And my favorite picture of all, an unprompted hug between the two.
