In case you haven’t heard yet, we are home safe and sound from the hospital, minus one thyroid! Andy is doing much better now that he is home and well on his way to recovery! Let the hovering and spoiling of the patient begin!!!!
3 years on Dayton Ave
We have owned and lived in our house for 3 years now– 3 years of jenky doorknobs, custom door frames, 3 a.m. grout projects, an expensive “free” dishwasher, and a yard that began to resemble a jungle. It has been an adventure with a steep learning curve for us first time home owners, but we still love our house that has become our home.

Update
In case you didn’t hear yet, Treasure is home from the hospital and recovering from surgery well. Feel free to e-mail or call if you want to visit or chat on the phone– Treasure will be home until March and expects to get bored in about a week!
Social Networking
Today, rather than posting the pictures I have long- promised, I changed our blog theme and updated some of our blogroll and website links. This got me thinking… do you have a blog? I will add it to our list if you want! Are you on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Goodreads? I am! Find me! Andy is on LinkedIn. Please help me in peer pressuring him into Facebook.
For kicks, a picture from our evening with the Mythbusters, Adam and Jamie.
My Weird Life
People often ask me what exactly I do as a librarian, but rather than bore you all with a list, I will say that I was interviewed today by Seoul Broadcasting System about our International District Chinatown branch library, our homework help program, and the freedom and opportunities library patrons in the United States have. Phew! I am soooo glad I paid attention in grad school, as I had to answer tough questions on the spur of the moment! It will be featured on their morning program (Korea’s version of The Today Show) the last week of October. And while I did my best to sound intelligent and professional, I just kept thinking ”Do I look skinny? How’s my hair? Is this what it feels like to talk to Matt Lauer?”
Camping this weekend
We are off to bravely take Goobers the wonderdog camping up in the San Juan Islands. I will post pictures upon our return, along with our Victoria trip, which I would have done awhile ago but we have recently experienced the passing of both our desktop computer AND our laptop! Ack! And because my mother wisely taught me that things break in 3s, we are nervously waiting for something else to go. On the bright side, we were able to temporarily resuscitate the desktop (yay for external hard drive backup!) and the death of the laptop means I can pick out the MacBook I have been drooling over the past few months.
In the meantime, I leave you to ponder this. While making salad last night, I looked at the blue cheese I was crumbling over lettuce and thought “How do you know when blue cheese goes bad? Bread gets moldy and milk smells bad when it expires, but blue cheese is already moldy and smelly.” So I ask all of you, how can you tell? That question should keep you up late tonight…
